From Glasgow we make our way towards Stirling then over Rannoch Moor and into famous Glen Coe. You will be awestruck by the beauty of this place. From Fort William the dramatic scenery of the Great Glen unfolds ahead of us, first Loch Lochy, then Loch Oich and finally Loch Ness. We will travel through the pretty village of Fort Augustus then enjoy a drive along the banks of Loch Ness. There is a stop at Urquhart Castle where, if you wish, you can visit the castle and take a short cruise on the loch - keep a careful watch, just in case! Shortly we will arrive in Inverness, our home for the next three nights.
The stay in Inverness is unescorted.
Today we enjoy a full day excursion to the beautiful island of Skye. We’ll make a stop at Eilean Donan Castle, perched on its island at the head of Loch Duich. You will marvel at the views when we stop at this most picturesque of castles. Soon we’ll be crossing “over the sea to Skye” and driving in the shadow of the towering Cuillin Hills to Portree, a picturesque fishing port which is the island’s main town. After free time we will return to the mainland and return to Inverness.
A day of nature and scenic beauty today as we travel to John O'Groats and the Far North. The emphasis is very much on nature, and we hope to see red deer, seals, puffins (until late July) and hairy Highland cows along the way. We will pass many stone age sites before arriving in John O'Groats. After a stop to enjoy the dramatic cliff scenery of the northern coastline we will return to Inverness.
Day Four
This morning there is an excursion through the Black isle to the pretty village of Cromarty followed by free time for shopping or sightseeing in Inverness. Later this afternoon join your motorcoach for the return journey to Edinburgh. Our route will take us to the gentle Spey Valley, with views of the Cairngorm Mountains, then through the dramatic scenery of the Drumochter Pass and onwards to Glen Garry - watch out for imposing Blair Castle. We'll make a stop for afternoon tea before continuing through the rolling Perthshire countryside. From Perth we travel towards Stirling then back to Glasgow.
