This very special three-day tour combines a relaxing two night stay in Inverness with some of Scotland’s finest scenery, including a wonderful full-day excursion to the fabled Isle of Skye!
Departing from Glasgow we make our way towards Stirling then through the Pass of Leny to 'Bonnie Strathyre'. From Tyndrum it’s over lonely Rannoch Moor and into the dramatic scenery of Glen Coe, scene of the infamous massacre in 1692. From Fort William the dramatic scenery of the Great Glen unfolds ahead of us, first Loch Lochy, then Loch Oich and finally Loch Ness. We will travel to the attractive village of Fort Augustus then drive the entire length of Loch Ness. We will stop at Urquhart Castle, where you can visit the castle and enjoy a cruise on the loch. Shortly we will arrive in Inverness, our home for the next two nights.
Today we enjoy the highlight of our tour - a full day excursion to the beautiful island of Skye. We'll make a stop a Eilean Donan Castle, perched on its island at the head of Loch Duich. You will marvel at the views when we stop at this most picturesque of castles. Soon we'll be crossing "over the sea to Skye" and driving in the shadow of the towering Cuilin Hills to Portree, a picturesque fishing port which is the island's main town. After free time we will return to the mainland and meander our way back to Inverness.
This morning there is an excursion through the Black Isle to the picturesque village of Cromarty. Later there is free time in Inverness for individual sightseeing or shopping before we join our motorcoach for a spectacular drive south through the Highlands. From the Spey Valley and the Cairngorm Mountains we travel through Glen Garry to enjoy scenic views of picturesque Blair Castle. After a break we’ll make our way through the gentle rolling countryside towards Perth then onwards to Edinburgh or Glasgow.
